I am a Certified Tidal Angling Guide through the Sport Fishing Institute of BC and Pro Staff for Gibbs Fishing.  I am an accomplished angler with 40 years of fishing, boating and water experience. I have guided and extensively fished near and far off places that include the salt and fresh waters of BC, Yukon, Alberta, North West Territories, Ontario, Alaska, Florida, Mexico, Thailand and Japan. Come aboard and join Coastal Blues for an adventure that will leave you smiling when you select a charter in Nanaimo. 

Richard is a lifelong fisherman and outdoorsman whose roots run deep in the wild and beautiful landscapes of Vancouver Island. With decades of experience on the water and in the backcountry, he has built a life around the natural rhythms of the rugged coast. Renowned for his skill, knowledge, and solid leadership, Richard’s accomplishments include leading countless fishing trips, mentoring younger generations, and contributing to conservation efforts that help protect the Island’s natural heritage. Whether it’s navigating the Pacific swells in search of the next big catch or chasing wildlife through our rugged forests, Richard is in his element when surrounded by nature.

Beyond his outdoors achievements, Richard is a devoted family man. He shares his life with his wife Holly and their adventurous twin daughters, who are already learning the ways of the wild at their father’s side. For Richard, the outdoors isn't just a passion—it’s a way of life he’s proud to pass down.

With every cast, every hike, and every campfire story, Richard continues to live out his love for the Island and his commitment to the people and places that make it home.
